Here are just a few projects that my students created in Summer Honors Academy. We worked on many projects from Monday through Friday 8:00-12:00. On Friday we invited parents, friends, and family and had an art show. I had SO MUCH fun working with these kids, I even had four of my former students from Hicksville!

Thanks for supporting!
Our local eye doctor came to the art show and purchased two of her
patients artworks for the office. The kids were so excited to know
their artwork would been viewed by so many!
What's a "Starfish Award"?
This year has been just like a roller coaster, full of ups and downs. I've learned that many things are out of my control, but what I can control is my program. I know I have a long way to go to get where I want to be, but I am focused on what happens in the four walls of my classrooms. On the last day of school I received this "Starfish Award". It's kind of crazy to receive an award just for doing your job!
This put a smile on my face!
I have to admit after long hours of grading exams I was so
pleased to read this on the last page of one of them.

High School Art Final Exam
I struggled all year with creating tests and exams for my high school art students. The second half of this year our students all received iPads. I wanted to incorporate technology into and it came to me....make an electronic portfolio. Students made a keynote slide show which included a title page, a slide for each artwork made this year, on each artwork slide students needed to have the media and elements and principles of design used. On the last slide the students could write what they liked, disliked, and learned the art this year. I was so happy with many of the final products. It was nice to see my students take ownership of what they've created! I will definitely be doing this again next year.
