Van Gogh in the women's restroom?!?

One of my awesome first graders came to me this week and said, "I saw Vincent Van Gogh in the Texas Roadhouse women's restroom!"  I later talked to his mom and she said he went back to the table to explain the texture in Van Gogh's paintings and why he cut off his ear.  Thank you Dax for putting a big smile in my heart!

Can I interest you in an iced coffee?

This Friday ended with the jitters!  About 3/4 of the way through the day our superintendent stopped door to door and offered each teacher an iced coffee.  Although I never have caffein, I took a cup, thanked him, and drank it.  Needless to say I got so much done in my classroom Friday afternoon!

Hide and seek, ceramics version!

Last year when our ceramics quarter was over, I sent all of the projects home with my students.  One particular student decided not to take his home, instead he hid his project throughout my classroom everyday for the rest of the year.  I would find it and put it on the take home table and he'd hide it again.  Finally, on the last day he took it home.

We are back to school and I missed a day last week.  When I came back this was on my desk.  Yikes!  Talk about a scary movie! :)  So, we are at it again this year.  I do find it on a daily basis, but sometimes I let it there for a few days so he thinks he's really stumped me!

He really thought he got me on this one.  I just let it there and finally he moved it to a more obvious place!

This put a smile on my face!

I have to admit after long hours of grading exams I was so
pleased to read this on the last page of one of them.

Room with a view...

One day while waiting for my class to show up I looked out my window and this is what I see.  I felt a little like an animal at the zoo. :)

I had a little time and painted my window, it helps block the view just a bit and the kids love it.  I found this saying on a blog a few years ago, but never had a place to put it until now.

Goodbye Picasso. Hello Wyatt.

This 5th grade student brought in a painting that he did on his own for boy scouts.  He was SO proud and I was So impressed that I hung it in my classroom and named him "Artist of the Week".
