You are what you eat!

My eight graders created self portraits with the theme "You are what you eat!".  I have them right before lunch and day after day our stomachs would growl while working on these projects!

Ice Cream Cone Collages

My 8th graders made these ice cream cone collages for the art show.  We currently have them framed and in the library on display until the day of the art show.  I'm hoping the local ice cream shop will want to purchase a few to be displayed uptown for the community to view.

Mummies

These mummies were a great way to use up scrap paper strips!  It took my first graders just one day to complete this project.

Jack-o-Lanterns

My second grade created these jack-o-lanters back in October.  It was so fun to watch them come together!  Believe it or not some of the jack-o-lanterns even looked like self portraits!

Torn Magazine Projects

I just realized that I haven't posted a single project from this school year.  I have an entirely different group of high school students this year compared to my first year.  They are harder working, many are self-motivated and it's been showing in their projects.  Here are a few examples of my Advanced Art students Torn Magazine Projects.  These were tedious and took some time (and a little complaining), but it was worth it.  I was very please with the out comes!

Van Gogh in the women's restroom?!?

One of my awesome first graders came to me this week and said, "I saw Vincent Van Gogh in the Texas Roadhouse women's restroom!"  I later talked to his mom and she said he went back to the table to explain the texture in Van Gogh's paintings and why he cut off his ear.  Thank you Dax for putting a big smile in my heart!

Can I interest you in an iced coffee?

This Friday ended with the jitters!  About 3/4 of the way through the day our superintendent stopped door to door and offered each teacher an iced coffee.  Although I never have caffein, I took a cup, thanked him, and drank it.  Needless to say I got so much done in my classroom Friday afternoon!
