It was a long, eventful and emotional week. I learned a former student of mine passed away from a long and hard fight against cancer, my family finally had our 'Gotcha Day' to make our adoption official with our baby, and other mini events happened throughout the week. At the end of the day a student handed me this note and gave me a big hug. As she walked away I asked her to come back and give me another hug. She just held on and smiled. It's amazing how kind words and nice gestures can turn a persons day/week around. #ilovemyjob #emotionalwreck #rak #paks #tootles #bekindtooneanother

I have a love hate relationship with oil pastels. When used neatly some pretty amazing artwork can happen. I can't stand seeing oil pastel smears and smudges in the background! #fifthgrade #candycanes #itsbeginningtolookalotlikechristmas #ilovemyjob #artteacherproblems #elementaryart

Nothing but sweet smells coming from this winter wonderland! I scored 54 gingerbread houses for $1 each after Christmas last year and saved them for my high school kids this season. #gingerbreadhouse #winterwonderland #itsbeginningtolookalotlikechristmas #highschoolart #ilovemyjob #advancedart

We took a few minutes away from our art this morning to write a note of thanks to any teacher in the school. Some students choose to deliver their own and I put some in teacher mailboxes. I LOVE to see the reactions of my coworkers when they read their notes from our students. I love taking time to show gratitude. Sometimes as teachers we need to be reminded that we are making a positive difference. #thankful #highschoolart #ilovemyjob #rak #randomactsofkindness #showingappreciation #makingadifference
