I couldn't be prouder of these girls! Twelve of the seventeen advanced art students were rookie mural painters this year! They worked non stop all day long in 90+ degree heat with very few complaints. Everyone took on a roll whether it was the petal crew, outline crew, basket crew, corn detailer, or mother hen making sure everyone was sprayed with sunblock and stayed hydrated! Nearly every time I do this lesson with kindergarten I get a comment like, "What's that supposed to be?" Or "That looks like scribbles." These are lines, just simple lines. But, they are the foundation for every project these kinders create from here until they graduate. This lesson to me is pretty important. A friend of mine snapped this photo today. This is Nicholas taking step-by-step instructions from me on how to create an insect for his artist trading card. Nicholas is one of the most polite, kind-hearted students I've ever had. Everyday when he walks in he says, "Good morning. How is your day going?" And when leaving class he makes eye contact, and says, "Have a good day, I'll see you tomorrow." He never complains, and you can always count on him to hand out the sweetest compliments. #daymade #atcswap #atc
